Alex qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1985 having completed her training at the Middlesex Hospital, London. She worked in a number of specialities- oncology, colo-rectal, and hepatobiliary nursing. One of the most exciting times was being a founding staff member in the establishment of a Nursing Development Unit, and being instrumental in the implementation of Primary Nursing within that Unit as well as facilitating practice developments in other areas.
She moved into education in 1994, firstly within a Training and Development Unit providing continuing professional development for nurses and training events for qualified and ancillary staff members. During her time at CCCU, Alex has been involved in developing, leading and managing Pre-Registration Nursing Education. She has worked extensively with NHS Trusts and the Private, Voluntary and Independent Sector in establishing practice-based activities to support students and educators. Her teaching has spanned across Pre and Post Registration courses.
Her academic interests centre around the student experience in practice and support for facilitators in practice.
Alex is fully committed to high quality student learning through advancing the profile of practice based learning and assessment, and in promoting the excellent work of the Faculty.
