Dr Alan Hebben-Wadey

Alan Hebben-Wadey is a Clinical and Academic Tutor on the Clinical Psychology doctoral programme at Salomons.

Outside of Salomons he is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice.

After qualifying in 2011 Alan has worked predominantly in the NHS, specialising in Clinical Health Psychology, with a focus on treating individuals with distress associated with cardiac diseases and individuals with Type 1 diabetes. Alan has a particualr interest in the complex interplay between mind and body and the ways in which psychological therapy can be harnessed to influence both mental and physical health outcomes. He is experienced in the application of third wave psychological approaches, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). In addition, Alan is trained EMDR practitioner keen on applying trauma therapy to address distress associated with physical health difficulties.

Alan is interested in developing a body-focused research agenda at Salomons, exploring effective psychological treatments that enhance mental wellbeing in individuals with long term health conditions, treatments that impact on physical health outcomes and the use of the body-based practices in psychological therapy, such as martial arts, yoga and chair-work.
