Mr Adam Tearle

Senior Lecturer: CBT

School of Psychology and Life Sciences

I joined CCCU in 2014, and I am a Senior Lecturer on the High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology.

Outside of Salomons I provide therapy in a local NHS IAPT service in Sussex. My initial career path was along a mathematical route following graduation from Manchester University in 1987, however after exposure to the world of mental health I became involved in various voluntary organisations in Essex before taking the plunge and qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse in 2001. I undertook CBT training at degree level in 2003 at Anglia Ruskin University and in 2008 at post graduate level at the University of Brighton. Subsequently I worked as a full-time therapist for the NHS and for Aurora CBT. I have a particular interest in mindfulness and compassion in therapy and have completed a post graduate diploma at Bangor University in 2014, and research Master's degree at canterbury Christ Church University in 2018, and currently am exploring how this can be integrated with therapist self-care and development.
