Our lecturers will support you to build your knowledge and skills and to progress into a good graduate career. We make sure there are lots of opportunities to work with other students and make life-long friends.

Employability

While your first graduate job may seem far in the future, it’s never too soon to start filling your graduate CV with academic, practical and work-related activities. In the first year, you will be taught the principles of studying at HE and will explore the marketing industry to help form a career interest. In your second year, you will spend a semester developing your personal brand as a Marketing professional (CV, LinkedIn, virtual interviews, psychometric tests and practice for graduate recruitment centres).

Rory Hope is a former student of Marketing at Christ Church Business School, having graduated with a first-class Honours degree in 2014. Rory is currently the Senior Inbound Marketing Manager at Remote, a company focused on “opening the vast potential of the world for every person, business, and country, building a world where every person and business truly belongs”. Prior to joining Remote, Rory served as the Marketing Director and Head of Inbound Marketing at Semetrical, an innovative digital marketing agency.

James Enderby is a Digital Marketing Strategist specialising in Pay Per Click (PPC), SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), Social Media, Email and Website marketing, having graduated with a BSc in Marketing from Christ Church Business School in 2019. James started his career as an Account Manager at Digitalbeans, and has progressed to Marketing Manager in B2B.

All students have the option to do a one year placement between their second and final year.

Sage Sealy, a Marketing student graduating in 2022, told us:

“During my placement year, I was able to utilise my academic knowledge and transfer my working knowledge, allowing me to develop my understanding of the field and create examples for university-taught theories out of the operations to which I contributed on a daily basis. My scope of the industry has been forever changed and it provided me with real insight into its future.”

Our NSS feedback around employability includes positive comments such as:

"I have had lecturers who are involved in the advertising and marketing industry, so this allows me to have insight into different types of job roles. I have done two different simulations for marketing; I have found these useful and they helped expand my knowledge."

Support & Wellbeing

Starting university can be daunting but don’t worry, this is completely normal. We understand that you have made a big step toward achieving your future goals and want to help you make the most of all that is on offer.

Importantly, we care about you, your wellbeing and success. At Welcome Week, you will be allocated a personal academic tutor (PAT) to guide you on your personal development journey but there is a wider University network related to finance, mental health and study skills to support.

Final year students who completed the National Student Survey in 2023 told us:

I had very kind and positive lecturers which made me feel at ease when I found certain things difficult to understand.”

“Teachers for my modules were excellent pushing me to do well throughout my modules and explaining how it will be useful in the future.”

“Most of my lecturers are very helpful and kind, with a clear passion for what they are teaching, and show genuine care for our work and wellbeing. I felt supported with my mental health with good access to therapy and help with disabilities.”
