IT training and certification

We provide a range of training options to develop your IT skills and help you succeed in today’s technologically evolving world.

Whether you want to improve your overall digital skills or need help using a particular piece of software for a specific assignment, the IT training team is on hand to offer tailored one-to-one training to help you prepare for the demands of university. As a Canterbury Christ Church University student, you also have the opportunity to undertake exams to gain globally recognised certifications in the Microsoft Office Suite.

IT Training

If you need additional support, training, or have questions, you can book one-to-one training appointments throughout the year. These cover basic IT skills as well as the software and platforms you will use while at University including Microsoft Office, Blackboard, Turnitin, Padlet and PebblePad. There is also support for our international students as well as our students with disabilities.

IT training slots are available Monday to Friday, 9am – 4:30pm.

You can also access online resources, gain free additional qualifications, or even add a Microsoft Office Specialist certification to your CV.

Pass an exam in a specific Office program to earn a Microsoft Office Specialist certification. Being certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist demonstrates you have the skills needed to get the most out of Office, a key quality for today's workplace. 

The IT Training Team is here to support you gain this valuable qualification:

  • Attend one of our Microsoft Office Specialist workshops  
  • Practice for your Microsoft exams before you take the real thing. This will help give you a sense of how the exam questions work, and how quickly you will need to work in order to finish in time.
    • Review the type of questions you will get asked by checking the exam objectives published by our exam provider, Certiport.
    • Prepare for your Microsoft Office exam by taking mock tests using GMetrix practice exams and training videos. In order to use GMetrix you must create an account and apply an access code. Please email it-service@canterbury.ac.uk for the mock exam code and key to access training videos. If you are studying from home, you can download GMetrix software from the Gmetrix download page. Guidance on how to use GMetrix can be found here.
