If you don’t pass all your modules and progress to your next level of study at the first attempt, in most cases you will be offered the chance to undertake reassessment.
Reassessment provides you with a further opportunity to take and pass an assessment activity that you’ve attempted but not passed. There’s no stigma attached to reassessment, and many students who re-take an exam or are asked to submit an alternative piece of work go on to complete their award with the grades they wanted.
When your results are released always check whether you need to take any further action. If you need to undertake reassessment on any of your modules, instructions will be included.
If you have reassessments, remember there is plenty of support available to ensure that you go on to succeed in your studies.
Reassessment with Attendance is when you are required to re-attend taught activities for module(s) you’ve already studied but not passed. This is to ensure you have sufficient learning to complete your reassessment successfully. You will be charged fees for reassessment with attendance, so make sure you plan your finances accordingly as there could be implications for your funding if the modules you’re re-taking do not span the entire academic year.
If you’re offered reassessment with attendance, please be aware of all of the following:
Please noteFor some students, depending on your course or level, Reassessment with Attendance for your current course may not be available. In these circumstances, we will endeavour to transfer you to the most relevant new course. The new courses will feature different modules and will be structured with 30 credits per module instead of the current 20 credits per module. If you are impacted, we will let you know at the point of Reassessment with Attendance and work closely with you to determine the best options to support your individual academic success. |
If you wish to take a break from your studies while you consider your next steps or withdraw from your studies rather than accept the offer of reassessment, you should seek advice and talk through your options with your PAT. Support is also available from the Student Support Advisers. You will need to confirm your decision by completing a changes to study request.
