Cost of Living Support

Eat Well for Less

Research shows that students are particularly worried about the cost of food, so we have teamed up with our Students’ Union, Catering, Chaplaincy and Student Wellbeing teams to provide good value food, free hot drinks and lots of recipe ideas.

Come along to Café 41 - a new warm space offering free hot drinks or soup

Christ Church Students' Union have been working in partnership with our Catering Team to launch a social space in Café 41, next to The Lounge, where you can come together with friends during the day to relax or study and enjoy a free hot drink and/or soup. Open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

And in December, Cafe 41 is offering a different takeover every Thursday, 10am-4pm:

  • 1 December - Fun and Games with board games, consoles, food and drinks
  • 8 December - Winter Wellbeing with hot chocolate and colouring
  • 15 December - Green Day with a clothes and book swap.

You can also grab a free hot drink at Tea at Three and Chooseday Chill!

Cost of Living Hub

Remember to check out our Cost of Living Hub for all the latest information to help you cut costs, make money, access support and come together during these times.

Bargain Corner in Medway

Come along to Bargain Corner in Pilkington 005. University staff, local churches and former students donate good-quality, second-hand items which we then sell to students at minimal cost.  The funds raised go directly to supporting student activities, such as film and bowling evenings.  Sales are run throughout the year.  Email Lynne for details at medwaycampuschaplain@gre.ac.uk

Make your student voice heard

We hear you!

Each year, your feedback informs hundreds of decisions made across the University. This isn’t just true of what we teach and how we teach it, but everything that we do – from learning resources to IT provision, to wellbeing support on offer and the spaces in which you study and socialise. Find out how we have responded to your feedback this year.

Digital Experience Survey

As part of CCCU’s on-going commitment to improving the student experience, we have launched our annual Student Digital Experience Insights survey. This short national survey aims to find out more about how you use digital technologies and how this supports your learning. Check your email for an invite to participate in the survey - for taking part you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 shopping vouchers or an iPad.

WhatUni

WhatUni is the UK’s largest source of independent, real, honest student reviews. Share your experiences at Christ Church and you could win a £2,000 voucher for taking part! It will only take a few minutes of your time to submit a review – so do it today.

Course Reps Conference

Your student course rep acts as a voice for students on your course, and will be representing you at the joint conference of course reps and peer mentors on 7 December. Discussion topics will include the Learning Hub, university rules and regulations that puzzle you, and what are the barriers that stop students taking part in big student surveys? If you have a view on any of these topics, tell your course rep! Want to know more about what course reps do? Contact coursereps@ccsu.co.uk.

Your timetable for next semester/trimester

We are pleased to report that teaching timetables for the rest of the academic year are now available via UniTimetables. Any as-yet-unroomed classes will have been given a room by the end of the Semester.

To look up your course’s timetable, we recommend you search using your course code, which you can find under ‘My Studies’ in MyRecord; then, from the available options, find your year of study, location and mode of attendance. If you prefer to look up the timetable for each of your modules, you can now also find their codes in MyRecord, under ‘My Modules’. For our UniTimetables top tips, check out our short video guide.

If any of your classes are taught in smaller groups, you’ll need to cross-reference the timetable as displayed on UniTimetables with group information provided by your course team to know exactly where and when you need to be.

Individual student timetables will be complete and available via MyTimetable by the time teaching resumes next Semester, although it may be much sooner – it depends how soon your course team are able to allocate you to all your classes.
