We are proud to sponsor this year’s Pride Canterbury and delighted to celebrate this joyful event once again with our Canterbury community.

Pride Canterbury is planned to take place in-person on Saturday 11 June 2022, with a parade through Canterbury High Street and live entertainment in the Dane John.

Pride is a wonderful celebration of LGBTQIA+ identity, which brings the whole community together to celebrate equality and diversity, progress and respect, and also marks Pride Month.

A pageant parade will open the day of festivities, with Canterbury Parade proceeding through Canterbury city centre, followed by a star-studded lineup of artists celebrating in the Dane John Gardens, including performances from Alexandra Burke, stars from RuPaul's Drag Race and a DJ set from Denise Van Outen.

Over the years we have become a key partner of Pride Canterbury and have supported the event in many ways. We have a thriving LGBT+ staff network and LGBT+ student society at Christ Church, and this sponsorship is part of the dynamic range of activities and support we offer to our LGBT+ community and allies.

Jonathan Fitter-Harding, from Pride Canterbury and Leader of Canterbury City Council, said:

"Pride Canterbury are thrilled to have Canterbury Christ Church University supporting us again this year. Christ Church is an important partner to us, and the impact that their support has is far-reaching.

“As an inclusive education establishment, by supporting Pride, it creates a positive environment for students, their families, and the teaching staff, and we look forward to welcoming them all to Canterbury on 11 June!"
