Christmas at CCCU in 2023
It is never too early to start planning for the festive season and there will be lots of ways for you to get into the Christmas spirit at CCCU!

Canterbury, Medway and Tunbridge Wells campuses will close for most services and activity from Friday 22 December 2023 and will re-open on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
A range of services will continue to be available both on campus and online to support students during the holidays.
Wellbeing Support
Spectrum.Life offers CCCU students immediate emotional online, text and telephone support from qualified professionals – whenever and wherever you need it. So, whether you go back home in the UK or overseas for Christmas or you stay local there is always someone there for you.
The free service is available 24/7, 365 days per year via:

You can also contact:

Christmas Corner in the Lounge, St Georges
If you are not going home for Christmas, The Lounge has you covered! From 16 December to 8 January, there will be a cosy corner where you can meet up with mates, play games and maybe enjoy a mince pie. Remember to bring your student ID!
The Students' Union has also set up a little campus pantry for those in need of food over the holiday period.
StressLess Zone in the Library
When the Library is open don't forget the StressLess Zone on the second floor. This is the perfect warm place to chill and enjoy board games and crafts with your friends over the holidays.
Augustine House Library, i-zone and IT support
Augustine House will remain open for students daily, except from 25 - 26 December and 1 January when it will be closed.
Please note that Augustine House is open 24/7 from 30 October 2023 to 19 January 2024, excluding 18 December to 1 January where the building will be open under restricted hours. Normal opening hours will resume from 2 January.

Drill Hall Library
The Drill Hall Library will operate standard term-time hours (Monday to Friday 8am -12 midnight, Weekends 9am - 12 midnight) until Friday 15 December. Normal opening hours will resume from 2 January.
The Oasis Lounge (Rochester Building) will be open 18th December until 2nd January, 9am - 5pm. Find out more via the Medway Campus Opening Times page.

Salomons Institute Library
Salomons Institute Library, Tunbridge Wells will close for Christmas on 21 December at 4.30pm and reopen on 2 January at 8am.
Learning Support
Remember you can also access a range of digital learning resources via your Digital Library and Learning Skills Hub at any time from home.
The quickest and easiest way for you to access all the free software you might need for your course over the holidays, including Microsoft Office, SPSS, NVivo and more is via the Student Software App Store
The Students' Union
The Students' Union Hub, including the lounge and offices, will be closed from 15 December at 4pm until 2 January at 8.30am.
Christ Church Sports Centre
The Sports Centre will be closed from 21 December at 5pm and will resume standard operating hours on 2nd January.
University Bookshop
The Bookshop on Canterbury campus will be closed from 21 December at 2pm until 2 January at 9am.
Accommodation Support
If you are staying in University accommodation over Christmas, then remember you can access all the support above. You can also contact the security team if you have any concerns or issues during this time on 01227 922355.
Safety Support
Your friendly security team will be on campus throughout this time. Download the Safezone App so you can easily request their support for first aid or an emergency.
Support of International students staying in Canterbury over Christmas
Friends International is here to help you enjoy your time in Canterbury over the Christmas period with the following programme.
- There are still limited spaces for their family Christmas meal 'link-up' during the Christmas period between 18- 31 December. You can take a friend (or more) with you if you like & go enjoy a delicious meal in a local home! If you're interested in taking part in this, let them know quickly by completing this form.
- 16 December - Global cafe social at St Andrews URC church, Oasis cafe, CT1 2UA from 7.30pm-9.30pm with board games, badminton, table tennis, pool, crafts and snacks.
- 19 December - English Language Club at 7.30pm-9pm at Canterbury Baptist Church, St George's Place, CT1 1UT. Come and practise English with native speakers in an informal atmosphere.
- 21 and 28 December, 4 January - Walk and Talk and practise English in a local area and discover local walking paths. For more information, message the Lay Chaplain Baiba on 07999556555 or by email on bs547@canterbury.ac.uk
- On 31 December - New Year's eve party from 8.30pm where everyone brings and shares foods from your country. Spaces are limited, so please contact Baiba to sign up on bs547@canterbury.ac.uk.
