The series aims to raise public awareness of the role of the arts in healthcare, complement health professionals' training, and connect people and communities for improved health and wellbeing. Confirmed speakers from the UK, Europe, USA and Australia will explore the impact of arts-based applications on individuals in healthcare and wellbeing contexts and settings.

Each webinar will focus on a key area in the sector of Arts and Health, reflecting the Centre’s expanding portfolio of expertise. The webinars will be led by members of the Centre and will feature guest speakers who specialise in a particular field. The one-hour webinars will include a presentation from the guest speaker, a discussion between the speaker, the academic expert and Persephone, and a Q&A session with attendees.

The inaugural event ‘Applied theatre in paediatrics: can participatory performance mitigate educational, emotional and social consequences of missing out school during hospitalisation?’ takes place on Tuesday 25 January at 2pm, and is led by Persephone.

The webinar will focus on the findings of the evaluation of an applied theatre project for children in hospital as perceived by hospital teachers.

Persephone will be joined by Associate Professor Sydney Cheek-O’Donnell from the University of Utah.
