His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Canterbury Christ Church University joins many across the world in expressing profound sadness and deep regret at the death of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. Our condolences go to Her Majesty The Queen and members of The Royal Family at this difficult time.

Professor Rama Thirunamachandran, Vice-Chancellor and a Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, said: “The announcement of The Duke of Edinburgh’s passing is deeply sad and will be felt by so many across the country and the Commonwealth. Our sympathies are extended to Her Majesty The Queen and The Royal Family.

“Prince Philip’s contribution to public life over the decades was exceptional, including his commitment to science and technology, and his encouragement and support for young people through the hugely successful Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The scheme undoubtedly helped to improve the life chances of many young people, giving them self-confidence, self-belief and new opportunities.”
