Fellowship demonstrates a personal commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education. Across four categories, from Associate to Principal, Fellowship provides individuals with recognition of their practice, impact and leadership of teaching and learning.
Fellowship is aligned to the Professional Standards Framework (PSF), and Nicole’s Senior Fellowship recognises her impact and influence on other colleagues and a thorough understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as a key contribution to high-quality student learning.
Nicole Pollock said, “I am absolutely delighted to have achieved Senior Fellowship. I hope that by highlighting that I am the 130,000 Fellow it will encourage even more people who teach or support teaching to become Fellows.
"It’s so important to reflect on how we go about teaching or leading teaching, and in particular how we can continuously improve. Our passion for teaching is great for our students, and it’s motivating and rewarding for ourselves as teachers too.”

Fellowships are embedded in the UK and have been adopted by increasing numbers of higher education institutions globally, from the Americas to Australasia.
Fellowship can be achieved via an accredited programme or through individual applications. The Fellowship Category Tools helps individuals reflect on their current practice. Fellowship is aligned to the PSF, and is made up of four descriptors (UKPSF 2011), which set out specific criteria, and three Dimensions:
- Areas of Activity which describes what a teaching and learning professional does;
- Core Knowledge outlines what they need to know;
- Professional Values outlines the manner in which they should carry out their activity.
