We want you to StressLess this Spring so we’re highlighting all the workshops and resources available to help you succeed in your studies.

Workshops

  • Wednesday Learning Skills Workshops: These workshops are designed to help you gain useful academic skills or prepare for your upcoming exams. From Referencing to time management and exam preparation and revision, you can drop-in to Tea and Toasty on Wednesdays and meet the Learning Skills team.
  • IT trainings: Gain useful tips, tricks and shortcuts to help you with your assignments as well as enhance your CV. Current trainings and certifications focus on Microsoft Office.
  • Medway Drop-Ins: The drop-ins at Drill Hall are made for you! Offering students 1-to-1 help on a range of subjects including academic writing, revision, time management and exam skills.

Resources and support

  • Personal Academic Tutor (PAT): No matter your level of study, every CCCU student is allocated a personal academic tutor from your course of study. Your personal PAT is here to help you understand feedback, prepare for exams and develop the academic skills you need to reach your goals.
  • Connect with a Peer Mentor in a safe and confidential space. They can provide reassurance and guidance, signpost you to services, share experiences and help build your support networks.
  • Learning Skills Hub: This is your one-stop-online-shop where you can explore online modules, discover additional academic support services and pickup tools to help you manage stress and anxiety.
  • Library wellbeing and study skills e-book collection: Have a look at all the online resources the library has handpicked for you!

Take a break and connect with others

Why not take a break and find a StressLess activity that suits your interests. These events offer a space for you to connect with others and meet new friends.

You asked and we’ve listened! The StressLess zone in Augustine House is back with chill out resources including mindfulness activities, massage chair, crafting, board games and more. With Mental Health awareness week from 15 -21 May, the library will be hosting a StressLess event on 18 May from 1 - 5pm with a range of activities to help reduce stress and anxiety, a natural feeling to have close to exam time. The Learning Skills team will be available to offer support and answer questions on how best to deal with anxiety around assessments and examinations. There will also be the highly popular biscuit decorating and crochet available as well as some new and exciting StressLess activities.

There are plenty of other StressLess opportunities to get involved in throughout the examination and assessment period:

  • StressLess zone on the 2nd floor atrium of Augustine House is available year round for some relaxation and chill time. 
  • The Board Games Group is moving to the Food Court every Thursday from 1 - 2pm. Open to all students and staff and beginners too! 
  • Free events are a great way to meet people, broaden your horizons, try something new, and have fun!
  • Get outside in nature during Potter and Prune! Wednesdays in the springtime at Johnson Wellbeing Garden you can help maintain and improve the garden, while learning about plant care.
  • There are also a host of Youtube videos called “Take ten with Lynne”, the Medway Chaplain, discussing mental health, providing a reflection on self-compassion and so much that are available to you to empower you to look after your mental health. 

Join a fitness classes to feel grounded and energized! Christ Church Sport offers Stretch& Flex, Spin, and Wake Up workouts. Whilst The Hub in Medway has loads of activities to keep you mentally and physically engaged this Spring.

Come along to one of these wellbeing events throughout the week for a free hot drink, a friendly chat and bit of relaxation.

  • Chill and Chat with Lynne in the weekly popup at Drill Hall Library. A space for you to relax, have a listening ear, or just hangout!
  • Chooseday Chill for an informal chat over tea and toast, every Tuesday, at Augustine House from 5 – 7pm.
  • The Chapel offers a safe space where any student can chat in a non-judgmental environment and there are free refreshments every weekday for Tea at Three!
  • Tea and toasty: This warm space is open to all and offers a community space to connect with peers or take time for yourself. Free hot drinks and soup is always available for Christ Church students.
  • The Student Support team is available to answer questions on finances, talk about your wellbeing, or listen to feedback you may have at the weekly Wellbeing Café, every Thursday in the Food Court from 2pm.

There are lots of reasons why you may be entitled to have adjustments made for your exams - illness, dyslexia, disability, English not your first language and many more. If you need extra support when taking exams contact the Disability Team in plenty of time so they can ensure adjustments are in place for you to be able to achieve your best.

  • The Mental Wellbeing team is here to help you succeed at any point of your student journey; whether you’re feeling stressed or suffering from anxiety, you can ask the team for help whenever you need it.
  • Nightline is a student-run listening and information service offering a safe, non-judgemental environment for CCCU students to talk about their feelings and gain emotional support and information.
  • Spectrum.life offers all students in the moment and out-of-hours support via text, telephone or App from qualified professionals. They also have guides, videos and podcasts to support your wellbeing.

Spectrum.Life StressLess Online Module

The Spectrum.Life platform has an online StressLess module which, through videos and podcasts, helps you to recognise the signs of stress, manage stress effectively and avoid burnout. There Wellbeing studio also includes self-guided meditations.
