Improve your IT skills, gain free additional qualifications and add Microsoft Office Specialist to your CV.

Here we’ll be answering the top 5 FAQ’s and giving you the full low-down on this amazing opportunity.

Microsoft Qualifications
  1. What are these Microsoft workshops all about?

As a CCCU current student or recent graduate (within 1 year) we’re giving you the opportunity to improve your IT skills and gain some free additional qualifications. All you need to do is sign up to a workshop and then prepare to begin a journey of awe and wonder (and epic new skills that’ll help on your course, and into your future).

As well as helping to improve your own skills and knowledge this will show future employers that you are confident in IT … and it’s a fantastic title for you to add your CV – ‘Microsoft Specialist’ – very snazzy!

  1. Are all the workshops for one exam, or are there separate exams for each area?

There are separate workshops for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. We recommend that you focus on one of these exams at a time, so come to the Word workshop, do some more practice, and then take the Word exam. When you’ve passed that, book onto the next workshop!

  1. How can I prepare myself for the exam?

Once you’ve attended a full workshop, the post-workshop email will give you a link to a training portal called GMetrix where you can do some more revision and have a go at some practice exams. This is a really good idea to get a feel for how it works, and the timing. We can’t recommend this more if you want to pass first time! We also have a Teams community which you’ll be invited to join, so you can ask questions and get some peer support and share celebrations there too.

  1. What do I do once I’ve passed an exam?

Celebrate! You’ll receive your result immediately either way. You’ll get some emails congratulating you and showing you how to retrieve your LinkedIn badge etc. Do add this to your LinkedIn profile, and don’t forget to update your CV too. We recommend a dance around the room before you book on to your next workshop. Embrace the moment!

  1. What if I don’t pass?

If you attend the full workshop, do some revision and a practice exam or two, you shouldn’t have too much trouble passing. If you do fail though, you can always re-take the exam! If you are a current CCCU student, you can also book some 1-to-1 training with the IT training Team.
