Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Rama Thirunamachandran sends best wishes to staff, students, and the community ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

"Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service is a time of historic importance in our nation’s story and a cause for huge celebration. At Canterbury Christ Church University we are inspired by our Church of England foundation and are even more delighted to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the same year that we enjoy our own Diamond Jubilee. The Queen’s devotion to duty and service has inspired us for decades as we have sought to transform individuals, create knowledge, enrich communities and build a sustainable future for generations to come.

"In 1965 we were honoured to have been visited by the Queen shortly after our foundation for a special tour. Our student film unit recorded some wonderful footage that captures a snapshot of our shared history – and I would encourage staff and students alike to take a look. And only earlier this year, as part of the Queen’s green canopy event, students and staff came together to plant 400 saplings at the University’s Canterbury campus to celebrate our shared jubilee year and show our commitment to building a sustainable future.

"I am sure you will all join me in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend as we salute Her Majesty on a truly remarkable achievement."
