Chemical engineering degrees gain international accreditation
5 Apr 2023
Canterbury Christ Church University’s chemical engineering undergraduate degrees have been awarded with an international accreditation by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
IChemE is a leading, global, professional engineering organisation, and an internationally recognised qualifying body for chemical, biochemical and process engineers. It aims to advance chemical engineering’s contribution worldwide for the benefit of society.
Through their higher education programme accreditation, IChemE recognise and share good practice in the education of chemical engineers, and seeks to promote development of the profession by encouraging innovation in chemical engineering programme design and delivery.
Dr Anne Nortcliffe, Head of School of Engineering, Technology and Design, Said: "As the founding Head of School for Engineering, Technology and Design, I am incredibly proud of the engineering team for successfully developing, delivering and demonstrating quality of student learning and experience to IChemE. It is a great honour that our BEng Chemical Engineering and BEng Chemical Engineering with Foundation Year have been internationally accredited by IChemE with no conditions, and for three years. This is an outstanding achievement for course director Dr Najah Battikh and the team.
“IChemE valued how we are nurturing an inclusive, sustainable and ethical chemical engineering education, and how our partnerships with industry provide our students with exciting CDIO projects that help to develop their technical and employability skills."
The accreditation provides assurance of the quality of the degree courses as they are assessed against high, internationally recognised standards. An accredited programme:
