Spain's Civil War 80 years later

To mark the eightieth anniversary of the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, Canterbury Christ Church University is holding a public talk with Giles Tremlett, Spanish author, journalist and broadcaster.
Giles’ talk, More history, or how to solve Spain's problem with the past, will take place at 6.30pm on 18 July, as part of a wider academic conference, Spain’s Civil War 80 years later: the wound that will not heal?
Giles Tremlett is an author, journalist and broadcaster based in Spain, who has spent much of his career writing for The Guardian and The Economist. He is the author of three non-fiction books that have been translated into six languages. He is currently a Contributing Editor to The Guardian newspaper, specializing in long form reportage and political analysis.
His book Ghosts of Spain: Travels through a country’s hidden past was translated into five languages and has sold 120,000 copies worldwide.
Dr Ruth Sanz Sabido from the School of Media, Art and Design and the Centre for Research on Communities and Cultures, has organised the conference and the talk. View the full programme and register for the conference.
