24-hour arts marathon to be held at Sidney Cooper Gallery

24 October 2016

Canterbury-based arts charity, People United, is looking for local people to help with its first-ever fundraising campaign, a 24-hour arts marathon, taking place at the Sidney Cooper Gallery at Canterbury Christ Church University on 29 October, 2016.

Starting on the Saturday morning and running straight through to the following day, People United staff and volunteers will collect stories of kindness from Canterbury’s streets using photography, poetry, music, collage and writing. Working with artists, including Lucy Steggals, they will then use these to create a special zine, raising money to support their community work spreading kindness through the arts.

The zine that’s produced will be distributed to homes across Canterbury and every penny raised from its creation will be doubled thanks to a commitment from Arts Council England’s Catalyst: Evolve fund. To support the event, the Sidney Cooper Gallery has offered its space for the marathon to take place.

Anyone can sign up to do the arts marathon by turning up on the day to join or by sponsoring via your mobile phone by texting ARTY24 £10 (or other amount) to 70070.
