Press Release

17 December 2014

Canterbury Christ Church University, in partnership with five universities across Europe, has been awarded 217,000 euros from the prestigious Erasmus+ funding programme.

The award is for a three year project which will develop a virtual learning environment (VLE) for school leaders. The aim of the VLE will be to produce a European wide network to encourage discussion, share good practice and help with leadership development.

The lead academic for the International Quality Evaluation Resource for Educational Leadership (iQERELl) project is Fiona Stephens, Senior Lecturer in the School of Teacher Education and Development at Canterbury Christ Church University. She said: “The VLE will give school leaders the opportunity to evaluate what they consider important in their schools, to share good practice and create opportunities for collaboration”

“The project recognises the need to critically examine how school performance is measured and how to engage practitioners in using data in a way that will support their work in an authentic, meaningful way.”

The iQerel is a project funded by Erasmus+ under the key action Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices. Partners in the project include Canterbury Christ Church University, University College Dublin, University of Murcia, University of Oslo and Jagiellonian University.

Erasmus+ European Commission funding aims to modernise and improve education across Europe. To give students and staff opportunities to develop their skills and boost employment prospects, with good practice shared in knowledge alliances.
