Business leaders in East Kent are being invited to find out how they can empower their workforce by working with higher and further education establishments.
East Kent Partnership, a collaboration between East Kent College and Canterbury Christ Church University, is holding a free event that will showcase the ways in which it can support local businesses.
Hosted by Discovery Park, ‘Empower your workforce’ is designed to support business growth in East Kent and will provide expert advice on popular topics such as leadership and management training, work placements and apprenticeships, social media and workplace and corporate disputes.
Angela Gill, Business Development Officer at Canterbury Christ Church University, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to find out how we can work with them. The East Kent Partnership was established to support local companies and show them how we can support their growth by providing access to highly skilled students, expert training and advice.”
‘Empower your workforce’ follows a pilot event held earlier in the year where businesses highlighted the key issues that they need the most support with.
Attendee Jean-Francois Chodecki, founder of HOTcraze and Corporate Creations and a tenant at Discovery Park, said: “The Successful Business Growth event by East Kent Partnership was very beneficial for our company, particularly the session on consultancy and research. It was both insightful and enjoyable and we would highly recommend attending future events of this nature to other progressive companies looking to maximise and expand their business.”
As well as drop-in workshops, there will be an exhibition at ‘Empower your workforce’ where employers can find out about apprenticeships, venue hire, work placements, mediation and Canterbury Christ Church University’s Research and Enterprise Development Centre.
Janet Chandler, Employer Relationship Manager at East Kent College, commented: “It is vital that we maintain good links with local businesses as we want to make sure that we are providing employers with the skills they need and that our students are employable.”
The project is being funded and supported by the European Social Fund and match funded by the Skills Funding Agency.
‘Empower your workforce’ takes place on Tuesday 22 July from 9am to 2pm at Discovery Park, Sandwich.
Attendees must register through www.empoweryourworkforce.eventbrite.co.uk. Free refreshments will be provided and the event will finish with a BBQ.
