25 September 2013

Canterbury Christ Church University has welcomed one of its highest ever intakes of students to study at the University.

Nearly 2,200 registered with the University at its Welcome Weekend making the event one of the busiest in the University’s history. The total number of new students who have enrolled so far is now over 5,000 and is one of the University’s highest ever intakes.

Professor Susan Piotrowski, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic), said: “We would like to welcome all of our new students to Canterbury Christ Church University. We have held numerous registration events over the last few weeks, catering for all of our different programmes and campuses, but this weekend’s Welcome Weekend in Augustine House was one of the busiest we have ever experienced.

“I would like to thank all of our staff, and the Student Union and their Freshers Crew, for all their hard work and for welcoming our 2013 cohort to university life at Christ Church.”

The high number of new students enrolling this September follows on from Canterbury Christ Church receiving its highest ever student satisfaction score in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).

Degree courses in Biosciences, Education Studies, English, History and Midwifery received 100% overall satisfaction levels from final year students in the survey. Foundation Degrees in Childhood Studies, Early Years and Supporting Young People also recorded 100% overall satisfaction.

The University also received exceptional results in the national Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) Survey which showed that 94.3% of its most recent UK graduates were in employment or further study six months after completing their studies.

Registration events will continue throughout the next week.
