13 November 2012
Over 2,300 people celebrated Canterbury Christ Church University's Golden Jubilee on Thursday 8 November by attending the Golden Night light and sound show.
Organiser of the show and Programme Director for the Events Management Degree, Jane Lovell, said “We are thrilled at the number of people who attended the event. The show provided a different way of seeing the familiar architecture of the campus, as buildings communicated with each other, moved and changed colour and character.
“The event was also great experience for our Events Management students who helped co-ordinate the evening. Golden Night involved all three years of Events Management Degree students, some of whom were assessed on their contribution, including the organisation and equipping of 80 stewards. No other Events Management Degree offers this level of involvement.”
Sam Hustler, a second year student for the Events Management Degree, said: “Golden Night was an amazing chance to get real world experience, which will help us in our careers after graduation.”
Other modules on the degree course involve students working with clients such as Canterbury Festival, the Marlowe Theatre and the newly-opened Beaney House of Art and Knowledge.
Jane continued: “We work hard to develop partnerships that give our students opportunities to experience Events Management while they study.”
