Canterbury Christ Church University's England Centre for Practice Development has joined in partnership with other universities from around the world to form a new International Community of Practice.

Led by the Person-Centred Practice Research Centre at the Institute of Nursing Research, University of Ulster, Christ Church has signed a formal partnership with Fontys University of Applied Science, The Netherlands; Buskerud University College, Norway; West Park Healthcare, Canada and The University of Technology, Sydney, to develop a person-centred practice research International Community of Practice’ (ICoP).

The focus of the ICoP will be to establish collaboration between universities that will help to strengthen research and practice development within a person-centred approach to nursing.

Carrie Jackson, Director of England Centre for Practice Development, said: “I am delighted that Canterbury Christ Church University is showing its strength and helping to lead the way in this area of nursing research by forming this international partnership.   

“Person-centred practice within nursing is currently a dominant focus in policy, strategy and education, aiming to transform patient care and services so that they are more person-centred, safe and effective at local, national and international levels.

“We hope that this international community will lead to new and innovative partnerships for the future that will help with the advancement of knowledge, skills and expertise in research for person-centred practice and in particular focus on practitioner research.”
