A new photographic exhibition by Jane Evans, a graduate from Canterbury Christ Church University, is on display at The Burton Gallery, Broadstairs Campus.
One of the pieces showcased in the exhibition 'Reintroducing the Photogram' by Jane Evans
Running until February, Reintroducing the Photogram showcases work in a unique photogram style. Photograms are a cameraless art form that achieves the images by using a person exposed onto photosensitive paper.
Exhibitor and graduate, Jane Evans, said: “I’m delighted to have my work on display at the Burton Gallery, especially as it is only the second exhibition to be showcased since it opened.
“Photograms don’t produce an exact detailed likeness as you might expect from a photograph; they have more to do with feelings and emotions and artistic expression. As such, my photograms are expressions of my own emotions and creativity that converge and merge with reality of the photographic image that is produced.”
Jane’s creative practice uses the subjects closest to her: her immediate family, yet paradoxically she produces work far removed from the family snapshot.
Reintroducing the Photogram will be on display until the end of February 2011.
