University Centre Folkestone is to play host to a selection of artwork, inspired by the Olympic values.
The ‘100m: The Creative Campus Exhibition’, will showcase a selection of the best pieces of work produced by universities across the South East.
The exhibition forms part of the Creative Campus Initiative, which has brought together leading artists and performers to work collaboratively with students, academics, schools and local community groups to form an artistic response to the Olympic and Paralympic values.
The Creative Campus Initiative has successfully become the largest Higher Education response to London 2012, in its inaugural programme, commissioning 102 new art works, pieces of research and learning and community projects taking inspiration from Olympic and Paralympic sport.
The exhibition which feature some of the best work from the initiative, including ‘Bolt’ by Carol MacGillivray, which explores our perception of movement and mimics its inspiration Usain Bolt. Other pieces include the short films ‘Degree of Difficulty’ by Laurence Llewellyn and Elle Sillanpää, celebrating the art, beauty and skill of Olympic diving, and ‘Spectators’ by Chris Yates, capturing the trust and intimacy between horse and trainer.
The ‘100m: The Creative Campus Exhibition’ is on at University Centre Folkestone, Mill Bay, Folkestone Kent CT20 1JG, from Friday 9 December to Tuesday 20 December, weekdays only 11am – 5pm. Entry free.
