Press Release

06 July 2011

Canterbury Christ Church University has announced the latest in their series of workshops aimed at helping local Medway businesses get ahead of the market.

On Wednesday, 20 July, Dr Wim Van Vauuren, Director of Business Consultancy at Christ Church University, will explain the secrets of a successful business plan, looking at strategy, organisational design and risk management.

Tara Humphrey, Business Development Manager for the University’s Medway Campus, said: “Television programmes, such as Dragon’s Den, have provided many examples of aspiring entrepreneurs who in their enthusiasm have overlooked some of the basic building blocks of their business model. These gaps are often quickly identified by the more experienced eye, leaving the entrepreneur with a business plan that may look nice on paper, but in practice provides more questions than answers.

“This session will provide you with nine basic building blocks to develop a solid business model, on the basis of which a business plan can be written, providing clear guidance to your business planning efforts and improving your chances of success.”

The session will be held at Canterbury Christ Church University’s Medway Campus, Rowan Williams Court, 30 Pembroke Court, and Chatham Maritime, ME4 4UF.

It will start with breakfast and coffee at 7.45am, and finish at 10.30am. The cost of the event is £50 payable by cheque or invoice in advance. However, places are limited so to secure your place email medway.events@canterbury.ac.uk or call 01634 894456.
