Press Release

24 June 2011

Sidney Cooper Gallery is pleased to announce its last exhibition of this season, showcasing art work by talented PGCE students between 30 June and 14 July.

Future Art and Design teachers from Canterbury Christ Church University have put together a vibrant exhibition that features examples of their own creative practice in a rich variety of 2D and 3D media and processes that include drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, textiles and animation.

A key feature of the exhibition is that the soon to be teachers will be exhibiting alongside their pupils. Visitors to the “In the Making” exhibition will be able to experience the diversity, creativity and richness of ideas which the PGCE students and their pupils have produced. This exhibition was created as a response to the intense and exciting experience of learning to become teacher-artists.

The exhibition is a celebration of their achievements, as well as of the strong partnership link between the University’s Education Faculty and the Secondary schools in Kent and Medway.

Sidney Cooper Gallery will open its doors to visitors between 30 June and 14 July. For more information on the exhibition, please visit www.canterbury.ac.uk/sidney-cooper or call 01227 453 267.

The gallery’s opening times are: Tuesday to Friday 11am – 5.30pm and Saturday 12noon – 5.30pm.
