University Certificate in Professional Midwifery Advocate

The Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) combined programme will equip the senior midwife with the skills and knowledge to fulfil this role and is an ideal course for those looking for career development.

As a PMA you will be an advocate for the profession; for midwives and women and you will be at the forefront of service improvement and the provision of safe and effective care.

This course will develop your leadership skills using elements of the A-EQUIP model namely clinical supervision, personal action for quality improvement, education and development and monitoring and evaluation.

The course is at level 7 and offers 20 credits on completion.

The course is available for experienced registered midwives who are academically able to work at level 7. Midwives attending will have been selected by their employer who will support attendance. Pre-course on-line activities must be completed.

Completion of the course requires attendance at four face-to-face taught sessions; 170 hours work-based learning & independent study and completion of a reflective essay and a portfolio of evidence. The course offers 20 credits upon successful completion.

The cost for the University Certificate in Professional Midsifery Advocate is £802 per person.
