Partners

The School of Nursing is proud to work with a number of international partners.

Learn more about who we work with below.

The School of Nursing has been working collaboratively with Howest University College since 2016. It is one of the leading providers of higher education in West Flanders (Belgium). Each year the nursing department at Howest organises an International Conference for their students. Students and lecturers from across the world are invited to participate to learn with and from each other. This enables attendees to learn about the importance of social and health influences on nursing, health and healthcare provision.

In April 2017, John Gilmore and Andrew Southgate gave presentations at the International Conference and Andrew participated in facilitating student groups to help them find solutions to scenarios that focused on developing cultural insight and awareness.

The School of Nursing has established a collaborative relationship with Mount Mercy. This provided the opportunity for students and staff to visit Christ Church in 2015 and 2017. The first group of students from the School of Nursing visited Mount Mercy for one week in September 2017 and another visit there is being planned for September 2018. The visits have allowed students and staff from the School of Nursing to learn together with our Mount Mercy colleagues and students to share experiences of health care provision, nursing education and the “way of life” in each other’s countries.

Mount Mercy University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is one of the longest-established and most recognized baccalaureate nursing programs in Iowa. Through service and internship opportunities in local hospitals in local hospitals with community clinics, home health and parish nursing, students work directly with a diverse population in the rapidly-changing healthcare arena. These experiences give students an advantage finding careers in hospitals, clinics, home care agencies, schools, and public health and beyond.
