External Library membership

Information for applicants

Library resources are primarily intended to support University staff and students. External library membership provides limited access to some library collections. 

How do I apply?

Please download, complete and print out the external membership form and take to the appropriate campus library with proof of ID and proof of address (two separate items - see accepted proofs) and payment if required. Please note applications are processed at Augustine House and Salomons Library only. Those wishing to use the Drill Hall can visit after they've received their membership card.

N.B. Applicants applying under the SCONUL Access scheme need to produce a valid acceptance email together with their University Student ID card.

Note that membership is only available on an individual personal user basis. Corporate or organisational membership is not available.

Current fee, including VAT: Full: £100 per annum Reduced rate: £75 per annum.

Please note this fee does not include any access to computers or online resources.

Reduced fee Alumni Application needs to be made within twelve months of completion of CCCU course. Applies to first year of membership only.
No fee Ex Staff (retired) Application needs to be made within twelve months of retirement. Applies to first year of membership only.
No fee Collaborative partners Applies only to applications from individuals from CCCU officially recognised collaborative arrangements.
No fee Collaborative partners National scheme subject to specific terms and conditions.

Drill Hall Library has other types of membership available for those who live in Medway Council area or work at NHS, details can be found at https://campus.medway.ac.uk/membership-schemes/.

Payment details (if applicable)

Payment must be made at the time of application. Library and Learning Resources accepts payment by cash, cheque or debit/credit card. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Canterbury Christ Church University’.

Collection of library card

Library cards will be available within 7 days of application and you will be notified of this by email or phone. The card may be collected in person during staffed hours at the campus library, on presentation of photographic ID.

Library and Learning Resources reserves the right to decline an application.
