Learning Support Plans, Placement Support Plans and Disabled Students’ Allowance.

Once the plan has been written and agreed upon, the Disability Adviser/ MHP will send a copy to you, your Course Director, the administration team for your programme and the Exams Office (or Assessment Administration/Registry Department)

It is your responsibility to ensure that they discuss the LSP with your personal tutor and make sure that tutors are aware that this is in place.

If you have extended deadlines as part of the adjustments, you will need to speak with your tutor and negotiate a new deadline. This should be done before the deadline for the assignment.

You must negotiate on an individual basis with academic staff if you need an extension to a deadline for any coursework for reasons related to your disability. However, if you need an extension for any other reason (e.g., a family bereavement), then you should complete an Extenuating Circumstances form (ECRF).

The ECRF process is not managed by Student Wellbeing Services. It is the Course Director’s overall responsibility, in consultation with tutors, to consider the request appropriately and agree on the length of the extension, if any.

It is the YOUR responsibility to ensure that the exams team have a copy of your LSP and that provision has been made for your needs as outlined in the LSP.

If you have a diagnosis of dyslexia, you should attach the appropriate coversheet to your assignment, which you will be provided with.

If you have an LSP, your tutor can request an LSP deferral which extends the deadlines to the next exam board period. Your tutor and the Student Wellbeing Team will complete a form which is then sent to the exam board for consideration of the extension.

Once the plan has been written it can be used by you for the duration of your course.
The plan can be reviewed at the request of the student if it needs to be changed.

If you change course a new LSP should be written.
