Becoming our partner

There are many reasons to apply to become a collaborative partner of Canterbury Christ Church University. The University works closely with a number of commercial partners and international partners to meet higher education needs locally.

Why become our partner?

Experience

With an institutional history going back over 60 years and almost 20 years experience of specifically engaging in collaborative provision, Canterbury Christ Church University is a market leader in the field of global partnerships.

Academic Link Tutor support

Each collaborative programme or partnership receives dedicated academic support through a named Academic Link Tutor who schedules regular visits to meet with staff and students at the partner institution. Academic Link Tutors also provide invaluable, ongoing support to ensure a successful partnership, and partners also benefit from the academic specialisms of our Academic Link Tutors.

Access to our electronic resources

Canterbury Christ Church University provides staff and students at our collaborative partners with access to our huge range of electronic learning resources including electronic journals and other materials, which means that our partners can benefit from many of the same resources offered on-campus in the UK, no matter where they are located in the world.

Our wide range of programmes

With a vast selection of subjects offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and covering subjects such, business, law, computing, education, engineering, health and social, we offer something for everyone and can also work with partners to tailor programmes and provide an element of localisation to boost student employability.

Partnership Models

The University remains open to exploring new opportunities through the following types of partnership models.

  • Franchised Programmes: where existing University provision is delivered by a collaborative partner, leading to the award of credit by the University
  • Validated Programmes: the University approves the course developed by the partner
  • Articulation Agreement: a collaborative agreement with an organisation to allow students to enter a University course with advanced standing
  • Joint award: where the University works with one or more degree awarding bodies for the purposes of course design, approval, delivery and assessment. Courses are jointly awarded to students by all degree awarding bodies.
  • Dual Award: where the University works with one or more degree awarding bodies for jointly conceived courses, however the student does not need to satisfy the requirements of all partners to receive an award.

How to become a partner

If you are interested in building impactful, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships, please complete the online form and submit. We will aim to review and respond to a new partner proposal within 10 working days of receiving your request.

If we believe the proposal could be of mutual benefits, the International Partnership and Development Team will organise a meeting to discuss the proposal further and next steps.

After initial consideration by the relevant host Faculty and International Partnerships Office, the application process for prospective partners comprises two stages: firstly, approval of the partner and secondly approval of the programme.

The partner approval process as general guidance, we advise new partners to estimate that it may take 6 months from submitting the initial partner proposal as there are a number of documents which need to be drafted and reviewed by various internal committees within the University, including due diligence. In addition the programme authorisation/approval process may take 3-5 months. As a general guide we advise new partners to estimate that it may take 9-12 months between submitting a partner proposal and programme approval process being completed. The International Partnership and Development office will keep you up-to-date with progress throughout and feedback following each panel review and approval stage.
