CASCADE – Community Areas of Sustainable Care And Dementia Excellence in Europe

The project approved for €9,295,278, of which €5,577,167 is from the European Funding has been secured by a cross border partnership to develop a four year cross European approach to providing better care for the elderly and people living with dementia.


Called CASCADE (Community Areas of Sustainable Care And Dementia Excellence in Europe) this latest initiative involves 10 partners from the UK, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.  The programme will see the construction of two new facilities for the elderly and for people living with dementia and will create a Centre of Excellence for dementia suffers across the partner regions.  It will provide training for 2500 people, care for 2700 people and an anticipated cost saving of €11.6m based upon the reduction of bed blocking in hospitals.

The CASCADE project was approved and funded by the EU Interreg 2 Seas programme 2014-2020 (co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund).
