I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied & Public Health Professions, Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. I am the Director of Interprofessional Education, Academic Group Lead for Paramedic and Perioperative Care and teach on the BSc Diagnostic Radiography programme. I am also the APHP School Lead for Apprenticeships.
I am an HCPC registered diagnostic radiographer with 30years post qualification experience in clinical service delivery and higher education. In addition to my Diploma of the College of Radiographers, I also have a BSc in Radiography with Diagnostic Practice from Kingston University, an MSc in Nuclear Medicine and a Masters in Public Administration both from London South Bank University. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and I have been awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Prior to coming to Canterbury Christ Church University I was a Principal Lecturer for Recruitment in the Faculty of Health and Social Care and Professional Lead for Diagnostic Radiography, at London South Bank University. Before taking up that post I was a Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography initially at University of Hertfordshire and then at London South Bank University. I have worked as a clinical radiographer at Gereat Ormond Street Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, and what was then Mayday Hospital, Croydon - now Croydon University Hospital.
I am link tutor for radiography students on placement at Conquest Hospital, Hastings and Eastbourne District General Hospital.
Teaching and subject expertise
I teach on a number of modules within the BSc Diagnostic Imaging programme. My specific subject areas of expertise within imaging are management and leadership, physics, radiation science, paediatric imaging and nuclear medicine.
I am a member of the Society and College of Radiographers and registerd with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I am a Technical Assessor of the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) for The The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and have contributed to two assessments to date, assessing diagnostic imaging service providers against the QSI standards. I am a member of the Editorial Board of Synergy Imaging and Therapeutic Practice and regularly provide feedback on articles submitted for publication and proof read the journal prior to publication. I am trained as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.
I am a technical assessor for The Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) which supports diagnostic imaging services to make continuous improvements and is accredited by the The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
I am a member of the editorial board for Imaging and Therapy Practice and a committee member of the Association of Radiography Educators
