I have a number years’ experience of working with children, young people and considering and including their families as members of the MDT and stakeholders in the service. My current clinical role is as a Clinical Specialist in Trauma and Orthopaedics in an acute hospital in East Kent. This involves leading a large team of OTs and Physiotherapists and covering a broad caseload of both elective surgery and complex trauma cases. Being an active clinician and manager in this setting allows me to bring a current perspective on the challenges of delivering services within the current climate of the NHS and policy context to my CCCU role. This role supports my teaching in that it enables me to bring up to date insights form practice into the academic environment which can inform the content that is delivered to the students and allow the students to access a current practice perspective from within the university programme.
