Times Higher Education is a weekly magazine, but the online version contains additional stories and features. Although it is based in the UK, it covers higher education around the world, including news, opinion pieces, statistics, rankings and other useful information.

THE is an excellent place to go for the latest news and opinions about higher education.

It includes a “Student” section, where you can find higher education news for students as well and the Student Voice articles which are written by students. You can also explore university rankings which provide a wide range of data on different institutions.

The site also includes job listings for higher education and information about events being held in the sector.

  • Go to LibrarySearch or access it via the University Services on your Blackboard.
  • Log in using your CCCU username and password. If you are away from campus, or connecting with your own device over Wi-Fi, you will need to include @canterbury.ac.uk after your CCCU username.
  • Select Find Databases, then click on T, finally click on the link to THE: Times Higher Education to open it in a new tab.

The first time you access THE, you will need to register. To do this, click the Register link at the top right of the home page. When you fill in the registration form, you must use your @canterbury.ac.uk email address, as this will ensure that you get access to all the content on THE. Create a password (don’t use your university password). You will need to confirm your registration.

To access complete articles, you need to register (see “Where can I find it?” above) and ensure that log back in when you visit the site.

The site has a search function allowing you to find articles on any topic of interest. If you want to view a digital version of one of the printed editions of the magazine, these can be found in the “Professional menu” and are called “Digital Editions”.

Once you have registered, you can also download the THE app to your phone or tablet device if you wish. This will allow you to read digital versions of the weekly magazine. You will need to log in through the “Existing THE account” option and use the username and password you created when you registered for the web version.
