Lexis+ UK provides full-text access to case law, legislation, expert commentary, and journal articles, as well as key sources that include Halsbury’s Laws of England and the All England Law Reports.

With the largest collection of black letter UK law, Lexis+ UK gives quick and comprehensive access to up-to-date legislation, case law and commentary.

  • Go to LibrarySearch

  • Log in using your CCCU username and password. If you are away from campus or connecting with your own device over Wi-Fi, you will need to include @canterbury.ac.uk after your CCCU username.

  • Select Find Databases A-Z, then click on L, and finally click on the link to Lexis+ UK (LexisNexis) to open it in a new tab.

There are several videos that show you how to use Lexis+ UK. To access these, click on the Help link in Lexis+ UK and then click on Lexis+ UK Videos.

 

Basic or Advanced Certification training

If you are studying Law at CCCU you are strongly advised to go to the LexisNexis Law Student Hub and under Lexis+® UK Legal Research certification click on GET CERTIFIED. Scroll down and watch the video and study the foundation certificate guide, and then take the Foundation test. The skills you learn
will help you to carry out research effectively for your assignments. You can learn even more if you also take the Advanced certification.

Try searching Lexis+ UK by following the steps outlined below. You’ll practice using some of the most common functions and be ready to search for information for your assignments.

  1. On the Lexis+ UK homepage, type emergency protection order into the main search box and press Enter.
  2. Choose the Cases filter on the left.
  3. Type baby into the Search within results box and press Enter.
  4. Now type application into the Search within results box and press Enter. This leaves approximately 32 results. The most relevant ones will be listed first.
  5. Go to the Timeline, change the start date to 01/01/2020, and then click on OK.
  6. Open the Practice Areas & Topics menu, click on More and then select Family.
  7. From the Sources drop-down menu, select All England Law Reports.
  8. Choose a case and click on the title for more details.
  9. Reflect on the type of information appearing in the results of your search. How will you use this information in your assignments?
