My course finishes early, can I leave my University accommodation?

Question:
My course finishes early, can I leave my University accommodation?
Answer:

Most Canterbury Christ Church University accommodation is let to students on a fixed-term licence contract (usually 40 weeks until June), with no break clause. Even if you leave Canterbury Christ Church accommodation early, you will be required to pay for the accommodation until the end of the contract.

You can only be released from your accommodation contract if you are withdrawing from the University or interrupting your course.

If your teaching is coming to an end you may also wish to stay to study and get ready for your next year, travelling locally or attending university social events. All personal belongings should be removed when you vacate the room and you need to return the keys to security.

If you are in Medway please speak to Unite Students, as you have differing contracts, but they won’t usually release you early.
