Sport and Active Health department has chosen to host its first hike! A 25,000-step challenge for BRIT 2025
The nationwide BRIT challenge is back, the feel-good fundraising event of the semester is set to be taking place on Saturday 8th March. BRIT, a trust that started in 2012, exists to support and improve the mental health, fitness, and wellbeing, of young adults, students, and staff, throughout the UK. Christ Church Sport and Active Health have been involved in raising money for BRIT for 6 years now, hosting a variety of fun challenges for the community to take part in.
Some BRIT Challenge highlights involve the community rowing 2020 miles in 2020 to hosting 23 activities over 3 months in 2023. The 2025 BRIT Challenge will see the Sport and Active Health department host its first hike! A 25,000-step challenge for BRIT 2025. Participants will each have a fundraising pledge and will receive tips and tricks to reach the pledged amount.
The hike itself is around 20km, taking place on the outskirts of Canterbury on a route composed through a variety of terrains. The 25,000 steps will take participants from around areas like Fordwich, known for its picturesque scenery all the way to Bekesbourne, a lovely village set in the countryside.
There will be multiple leaders, allowing participants to go at their own pace and enjoy the scenic views. The Sport and Active Health department are encouraging you to create teams, whether that be with your department, sports clubs or friends and family. The hike will challenge you to pay attention to the present moment and connect with people whilst being physically active.
Aiming to motivate participants, the Christ Church Moves app will also be hosting multiple BRIT Challenges, where you can earn points and prizes for completing the hike.
