Equality Objectives

Equality and diversity are embedded in the University’s values and are central to the successful achievement of its aims and objectives. The University’s Equality Objectives 2015-20 are closely aligned with the University’s Strategic Framework and they are divided into four areas:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Estates and Facilities
  • Student Education and Experience
  • Staff Experience

In all four areas, as well as consulting with the University community, understanding the messages from student and staff demographic data is essential to developing and delivering appropriate strategies for success. In this regard equality data from student and staff surveys as well as Investors in People, the University’s annual data returns to HESA (the Higher Education Statistics Agency) and the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey have formed the evidence base for the University’s Equality Objectives 2015-20.

The Equality Objectives are specific and measurable and demonstrate an embedded approach to promoting and developing equality and diversity. They take the University far beyond legal compliance and are ambitious in what they seek to achieve.
