This theme group supports research, consultancy, and scholarship in the linked fields of professional development, identity, teacher education, organisational learning and improvement, multi-professional and collaborative learning, leadership development and systems leadership.
The group facilitates capacity building through seminars, conferences and peer and expert support for bid writing, research and publication. We are concerned with three overlapping strands:
In recent years we have supported colleagues leading seminars on their postgraduate research in progress and have shared learning from successful Erasmus bids focussing on leadership development in Europe. We have participated in research conferences, collated publications from our own ‘Crossroads’ teacher education conference and edited special editions of journals. Current interests include cross-faculty developments in multi-professional learning, partnerships for social and emotional learning, leadership development in local settings and international education contexts, the impact of action research and developing research engagement within Teaching School Alliances.
