School: Secondary and Post 16 Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
Currently as the Faculty Director of CCCU Teach First Partnerships I have responsibility for the contractual delivery and development of the programmes in London, South East and East of England. Prior to coming to CCCU I taught Religious Education in a number of mixed comprehensives in London, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire where I was a Head of Department. In addition I taught undergraduates and graduates at the University of Hertfordshire and Goldsmiths University, including courses in Religious Studies and on Initial Teacher Education programmes. I have also taught Religion within the Community College system in Portland, Oregon (USA). I have experience working across a number of ITE routes at CCCU including School Direct and Teach First. In addition I have been the Partnership Development Lead for London where I worked with schools, businesses and third sector agencies to establish partnerships for the Faculty of Education.
I am currently undertaking doctoral research at UCL IoE into the nature and content of GCSE exam questions for Religious Studies and am also involved in the development and research of Critical Religious Education as an approach to learning in the Religious Education classroom. Other areas of research interest are School Based/Led models of ITE and in particular the outcomes of trainees in a range of contexts and with a range of staring points.
