Karen Vincent has worked in the Facuty of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University for 8 years. She has been teaching for 25 years in a variety of settings with a particular interest in the earliest years of learning. Karen teaches across many of the Early Childhood and Primary initial teacher education routes preparing teachers on routes to both Qualified Teacher Status and Early Years Teacher Status.
Research and knowledge exchange
Karen is currently working on her thesis examining the work of early childhood teacher educators in England. In addition to this, her research interests are focused on the professional development of mentors and university based tutors in supporting student teachers to teach our youngest children. Karen’s specialist area of teaching is Early Childhood and she has contributed to several book chapters aimed at supporting teachers to understand the role of play in early Mathematics and in the development of early Literacy.
Teaching and subject expertise
Karen is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the TACTYC and Association of Teacher Educators Europe organisations. She is also a member of the Chartered College of Teaching.
