Profile summary

I started teaching in 1984 in inner London primary schools. Subesquently I moved to Kent and taught in schools within Shepway. My areas of specialism and interest within primary schools included sports teams, creating school musicals, mathematics, science and ICT. I was a subject coordinator for mathematics, science, ICT for much of my classroom teaching career. I entered into school leadership and management, becoming a Deputy headteacher and Headteacher. After nearly 20 years of primary school experience I started teaching in the Primary Education department of Canterbury Christ Church University. My teaching is focussed upon mathematics and ICT within the Primary Education partnership within the full time and part time Undergraduate and Post graduate programmes, along with working as the Primary Mathematics lead for the Teach First summer institute. I enjoy writing about mathematics teaching and learning, with a strong interest in ICT within this process, writing book chapters, articles and contributing to edited books.

Teaching and subject expertise

I currently teach primary mathematics on Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, including Teach First. I have a keen interest in using ICT within the learning and teaching process.
