Teaching and subject expertise

Working across 3 regions, I am the Subject lead of English on the Teach First Programme and a Senior Lecturer in Education within the School of Teacher Education and Development. I currently lead the Teach First English Team to support first and second year English participants to achieve QTS and their PGDE. Responsible for coordination, planning and delivery of an innovative English curriculum ensuring regional needs are met in accordance with the Teach First vision and expectations. I plan, prepare and deliver sessions to support English trainees through the Summer Institute and 5 PGDE Modules. I assess and track the English cohort's progress towards their QTS and PGDE achievement. I work closely in partnership with school mentors and PDLs, ensuring Teach First participants are supported effectively and I also support mentors in their work through preparing, planning and delivering CPD mentor training sessions.

Prior to my current leadership role, I worked as a Senior Lecturer on the Teach First PGCE programme in schools across London. My experience as an AST, Senior Leader and English, Religous Education and Geography teacher in challenging London schools supports my current work and expertise.
