Profile summary

I started working at the University in September 2010 after 22 years in secondary education in three schools in the south of England. My subject specialism is secondary Modern Foreign Languages and my most recent position in schools was in Senior Leadership with responsibility for staff development and specialist school status. I joined the University as Team Leader for the GTP (now School Direct) and have worked on a number of teacher education programmes including Teach First. In 2013 I took on the role of subject lead for MFL across secondary ITE pathways.

Research and knowledge exchange

Since 2011 I have been actively developing links with University College KAHO Teacher Training Department,in Sint-Niklaas, northern Belgium. We now have a bi-lateral project running for student teachers in POINTED in which groups of student teachers from each country spend time in the partner institution and have the opportunity to undertake some teaching in the foreign country. This has been developed into a full Enhanced Studies module which will run for the first time in 2014.

Teaching and subject expertise

My area of subject specialism is secondary Modern Foreign Languages.

External activities

For two years I have been invited by University College KAHO Teacher Training Department to deliver training sessions on Assessment for learning.
