Profile summary

I am a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for the BA Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring.  

I am a qualified Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and Social Worker registered with the Health Care Professionals Council and the British Association of Art Therapists. I have worked both as a manger and senior practitioner in multi-disciplinary teams in a variety of statutory and non-statutory organisations. This has included, NSPCC post abuse therapeutic services, Action for Children Post sexual abuse services and two specialist NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for Looked after Children and Adolescences within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and St Georges NHS Trust.

Research and knowledge exchange

I am passionate about the need to increase the range of accessible, evidence based therapeutic services for children and young people and the importance of ongoing training and supervision for professionals in this field. 

 In accordance with this I have been delivering post sexual abuse training to multi-disciplinary teams and provide ongoing supervision to a range of therapists and other professionals.

I am currently undertaking a PHD exploring professional resilience, retention and wellbeing across a range of related disciplines.

Teaching and subject expertise

My area of teaching expertise is in developing counselling, therapeutic and interpersonal skills. I have also taught Child Development and Power, Participation and Protection Modules on BA Early Childhood Studies.

From clinical expereince, my area of expertise is child and adolescent mental health, resilience and systemic functioning following trauma and abuse. Within this I have worked closely with multi-professional networks, including social care services, health, police, foster and adoptive carers and birth family.


My roles have required skills in risk assessment and management, crisis intervention and long and short term therapeutic and care planning. I have worked with diverse client groups, including, children under 5, Refugee and asylum seeking individual and families, children in care, Young Witnesses and adult survivors of abuse and torture. I have also managed, supervised and developed a range of training sessions for professional teams, including, foster carers, therapists, social workers and teachers around issues of child mental health, abuse, resilience, therapeutic wellbeing and professional self-care and team functioning.
