Information for Prospective Students
In 2016/17, 94% of UK graduates from Canterbury Christ Church University were employed or undertaking further study within six months of completing their studies.
(Based on the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey, 2016/17)
Canterbury Christ Church University prioritises the employability of its students, as detailed in our Strategic Framework 2015-2020. We work closely with employers and businesses to create courses that prepare you for your future in the world of work.
Enhancing your skills
Students on our courses are encouraged to learn and develop key essential skills and attributes that employers are looking for. Our students are taught by experts in their field, with a wealth of industry experience.
Depending on your course, you’ll have the opportunity for a work placement, work-related learning and networking opportunities. For example, all students on a health or teaching course will undertake practical placements whilst they study. Students studying business have the option to work on a placement as part of their course.
Even if you do not have a placement within your course, you will have the option to work towards the Employability Award, an extra-curricular personal and professional development award that will ensure you develop the skills to stand out to future employers. You can work towards this once you start your course, and will have the duration of your course to complete it.
Support for you
The Employability and Skills team is there to provide a dedicated service to support your employability throughout your time with us and beyond.
They work with faculty staff to deliver bespoke employability information sessions and employer events within lecture time, to prepare and equip you for your future in the workplace. They also offer workshops, careers appointments, events and a daily drop-in information area.
Enhancing your Christ Church experience
In addition, we provide you with information and opportunities to ensure that you will stand out once you graduate:
Unitemps - the University's on-campus recruitment service for all student jobs whilst you study. Sign up through the Unitemps website now or visit us in branch once you start your course.
The CORE - an information system designed and developed specifically for our students, with hundreds of useful resources for you to explore your options and secure your chosen future. The CORE is easily accessible once you are a registered student andf is accessible to graduates up for 3 years after graduation.
Christ Church Students' Union - gain teamworking skills, leadership experience and more by joining a sports team, a society, working on student media, or raising money for a volunteer project - all through your Students' Union.
Volunteering Opportunities - in order for you to boost your CV through community volunteering, we run a website featuring many of our local organisations, offering volunteering roles to students. This website allows you to log the volunteering hours that you do; your organisation will approve the hours and you will receive recognition from the University at the end of the year.
This is just the start! There is much more information and support for you to access once you start at Christ Church; we look forward to supporting you once you begin your course.
