Read Lucy's top five reasons why she loves studying Criminal Investigation at CCCU.
In a Criminal Investigation degree, it’s not all sitting down in lectures. You quite often get to put the content you’ve learnt into practice, so you don’t get bored. It also gives you a chance to put theory to practice as you have the opportunity to practise what you’ve learned.
CCCU is one of the only universities that has a range of facilities for Criminal Investigation students, such as the Hydra Suite and crime scene rooms. We’re one of just a handful of universities in the UK that uses Hydra for criminal investigation.
Most of our lecturers have a background in related jobs. You get to hear real-life stories about what really goes on in the sector, from detectives, people that work in the courts, and the police.
Not all of the assignments are sit-down exams. There’s a nice mix of posters, practicals, essays, and presentations, as well as traditional exams. This means that if you excel in one but struggle with the other, you can still pass!
CCCU recognises that there isn’t just one way of learning and has incorporated this into their curriculum, so they cater to your particular learning style. This is great if you usually struggle with exams.
A Criminal Investigation degree can open so many doors for you. There’s such a vast range of jobs you can go into once you have your degree, such as a detective, customs officer, crime scene investigator, police officer, and the courts.
At CCCU, there’s a huge emphasis on employability. Employability modules are included in every course, and they teach you the transferable skills to thrive in any sector. So, if you graduate and enter a completely field to your degree, you’ll have the confidence to thrive because of the employability skills learned throughout your course.
