Physical description

"Anne, dear gentle Anne was quite different from the others ... Her hair was a very pretty light brown, and fell on her neck in graceful curls. She had lovely violet-blue eyes, fine pencilled eyebrows and a clear almost transparent complexion" (describing Anne aged 13. From Ellen Nussey's "Reminiscences" 1871). Juliet Barker claims that Anne's hair was darker than Nussey remembered, citing a little plait carefully cut off and preserved by her brother Patrick in 1833 as a rich brown with a hint of auburn. Although Anne's height is not recorded, she is known to have been rather small in stature - possibly around five feet two inches tall.

Anne was buried in Scarborough, not in Haworth like the rest of the family.
